Mothman Festival

Downtown Point Pleasant, WV, US

The biggest cryptid festival in the country. Started in 2002 by Mothman Museum founder Jeff Wamsley, when a couple hundred people came. Now draws crowds estimated in the tens of thousands, with speakers, live music, vendors, costumes and tours of the TNT area where the 1966 sightings began.

Boggy Creek Monster Festival

The Dancing Ranch Farm, 490 Miller County 218, Fouke, AR, US

A newer, family-style festival on the same legend as the Fouke event. Cryptid speakers, live music, food, kids' rides and petting zoo, wrestling and an outdoor movie. Separate from the Fouke Monster Festival.

Bigfoot Daze

Veterans Park, Willow Creek, CA, US · Website

A small-town celebration in the self-styled Bigfoot Capital of the World, running since the 1960s. Parade, Bigfoot calling contest, costume contest, live music, more than 70 vendors, and an ice cream social at the Willow Creek-China Flat Museum.

Honobia Bigfoot Festival / Bigfoot at the 40

Honobia (Kiamichi Mountains), OK, US · Website

A remote mountain festival with researcher talks, campfire encounter stories, vendors, music and camping. Long known as the Honobia Bigfoot Festival and Conference; the 2025 edition ran under the name Bigfoot at the 40 after organizational changes.

WNC Bigfoot Festival

Historic downtown Marion, NC, US · Website

Free downtown festival tied to a reported 2019 Lake James sighting. Bigfoot calling contest, author talks, music, vendors, costumed characters, a Jeep zone and a 5K. Free shuttle.

Mothman Museum

Founded by local author Jeff Wamsley (opened 2006). Holds original handwritten 1966 witness statements, props from The Mothman Prophecies film, and decades of clippings. Guided Mothman tours offered. The Mothman statue is around the corner.

International Cryptozoology Museum

490 Broadway, Bangor, ME, US · Website

Loren Coleman's museum, founded 2003, which calls itself the largest and oldest cryptozoology museum in the world. Moved from Portland to a historic Art Deco building in Bangor in 2026 with about four times the space. Thousands of items, including a Sasquatch exhibit. Some renovation still under way.

Willow Creek-China Flat Museum (Bigfoot Collection)

A local history museum with a dedicated Bigfoot wing and a large carved Bigfoot on the building. About 30 footprint casts, a 1958 cast described as the first, a 1947 footprint photo, and Patterson-Gimlin film material. Admission by donation.

A convenience store with a small Fouke Monster museum corner: track casts, newspaper stories, photos and souvenirs, plus well-reviewed barbecue. Reviews in 2026 report a new owner after long-time owner Denny Roberts sold it.

The Loch Ness Centre (Loch Ness Experience)

Guided one-hour walk through rooms of the old hotel where the modern Nessie story began with Aldie Mackay's 1933 report. Films, artifacts and the history of searches. Also runs a one-hour Deepscan boat cruise on the loch.

A small museum in the town that calls itself Canada's Sasquatch capital, home of the late researcher John Green. The town also has Sasquatch statues and street-sign silhouettes, and Sasquatch Provincial Park is nearby.

Gray Barker UFO Collection (Gray Barker Room)

The files, 300 books, magazines, photos and props of Gray Barker, who wrote up the Flatwoods Monster and popularized the Men in Black. A research archive rather than a display museum; strict reading-room rules.

Bigfoot Discovery Museum

Highway 9, just south of Felton, CA, US

Michael Rugg's museum in the Santa Cruz Mountains ran about 20 years, with casts, memorabilia and a map of local sighting reports. It closed when Rugg retired; a mural on the barn is reported to remain. Some exhibits reportedly went to Oregon.

The old WWII explosives works with concrete igloos where the first 1966 Mothman sighting was reported. Tours run during the Mothman Festival.

Fiberglass Hodag by local artist Tracy Goberville. The Hodag began as Eugene Shepard's 1893 hoax and is now the city's symbol and high-school mascot. Two more hodags at the ice arena; the Hodag Country Festival is in town.

Bishopville and Scape Ore Swamp

Bishopville, Lee County, SC, US

Where 17-year-old Christopher Davis reported a 7-foot scaly creature in 1988. The story ran in more than 100 papers and local shops sold Lizard Man merchandise. One 1988 sighting report was later admitted to be a hoax.

Sasquatch statues at the village entrance, silhouette street signs, a small museum and hiking in Sasquatch Provincial Park. The word Sasquatch comes from a Halkomelem term, and the area is tied to the 1941 Ruby Creek report. Sasquatch Days is held with the Chehalis community.

Jefferson, Marion County, TX, US

A historic East Texas river town that hosts the Texas Bigfoot Conference and a twice-yearly paranormal conference, with the Excelsior House, billed as Texas's oldest continuously operating hotel.
