These terms apply to almanacofcryptids.com (the "Site"), run by Gancanagh LLC, a Tennessee limited liability company ("we", "us"). By using the Site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
What the Site is
The Site is an independent reference about cryptids: reported sightings, local legends, places and the theories people offer for them. It reports what witnesses, researchers and skeptics say and labels each story by how well it is documented. It does not claim that any creature is or is not real. It is for entertainment and general information only. We try to be accurate and cite our sources, but we make no promise that everything is complete, current or correct.
Visiting places
Many places on the Site are private property, active railroads, waterways or wild country. Nothing on the Site gives you permission to enter any property. Obey closures, posted signs and local law, and check current conditions before you go. You visit any place at your own risk.
Our content and other people's content
The text, design and code of the Site belong to Gancanagh LLC. You may share links and quote short passages with credit. Please do not copy whole pages.
Pictures come from Wikimedia Commons and other sources under Creative Commons or public-domain terms. Each picture's author and license are shown with it, and those licenses, not these terms, govern your reuse of those pictures. Map outlines come from Natural Earth and the U.S. Census Bureau (public domain).
Sighting reports and photos you send us
If you send a sighting report:
- You confirm it is your own experience, told honestly, and that any photo is yours or that you have the right to share it.
- You keep the copyright. You give Gancanagh LLC a free, worldwide, non-exclusive, permanent licence to publish, edit for length and clarity, and display your report and photo on the Site and in posts that promote the Site, with the name you give as credit.
- Please do not send photos showing identifiable people who have not agreed, or anything illegal, hateful or explicit.
- We read every report before anything appears and may decline or remove any report or photo at any time without giving a reason.
- To have your report or photo taken down, email gancanaghllc@gmail.com and tell us which one it is.
Copyright complaints
If you believe something on the Site infringes your copyright, send a notice to gancanaghllc@gmail.com that includes: your name and contact details; the work you say is infringed; the web address of the material on the Site; a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorized by the owner, its agent or the law; a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner; and your physical or electronic signature. We will remove or disable material that is properly reported, and we will stop accepting reports from anyone who repeatedly infringes.
Links, ads and affiliate links
The Site links to other websites, which we do not control. The Site may show advertising and include affiliate links that earn us a commission; see our disclosures.
No warranty and limit of liability
The Site is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, Gancanagh LLC is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the Site, reliance on its content, or visits to any place it describes.
Changes and governing law
We may update these terms; the date above shows the latest version. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, USA.
